There are times when a situation has escalated to a point where physical force must be used to maintain good order and prevent physical and psychological injury.
It is also imperative that when using such force the conflict manager must not only remain within the legal framework for the use of force but within an ethical framework taking into consideration the vulnerable nature of children. Teachers and staff must be able to maintain a positive relationship with the aggressor once the incident has been managed. The Betaris skills suite has been designed using non-painful or harmful techniques specifically for use with children.
