AIM OF THE THREAT VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT
aimS:
- Identify key assets to the school, people, property, information etc
- Confirm the types and scale of risk
- Conduct Trend Analysis by assessing patterns of life relating to past incidents involving the establishment and its population
- Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the existing organisational and physical security measures
- Provide findings that could deliver targeted and thus economical security measures to promote a safer working environment
- Provide accurate Training Needs Analysis
- Establish the schools Threat & Vulnerability Profile
- Provide data for development of the schools Incident Management Procedures
OBJECTIVES:
- Analysis of the history of past security related incidents (crime and discipline data review)
- Analysis of current security policy, procedures, Incident Management Procedures guidelines and other security related documentation and assess implementation
- Where appropriate, conduct assessments and structured interviews with staff and members of the establishments’ community
- Assessment of physical and social environment - Internal and external of the establishment
- Assessment of the establishment infrastructure and property
- Assessment of risk to staff and pupils
- Assess incident preparedness
- Assessment of existing security control measures
- Assess security and conflict management training and education status
- Compare and evaluate all data and subsequently compile in a summary report to include objective findings
